how many times were you bombarded by these words, only failing to understand the benefits they can bring to your site?

as a digital company, it’s important for us to keep up with all the emerging platforms to build better digital solutions and websites for our clients. but what happens if you are using all the newest technology, but your end product is still crappy?

To me, perhaps technology does matter, but the idea is the most crucial part. Technology should only help to simplify and/or speed up the process. A simple website probably works much better than a website with beautiful design but horrible navigation.

I came across this website i was most impressed with – built on basic html (perhaps with a bit of ajax), single-page with simple navigation and impressive static loading that works like an animation. what happens is when you click on one of the menu buttons on top (save ‘blog’), it links you to different part of the pages, and when it scrolls downwards, it makes use of static scrolling to bring alive the background behind. I can’t explain it well it words, but it reminds me of the days when we used to draw jumping stick figures at the corner of each page on our thick textbooks and watch it animate while we do a flip through the book.

this site has almost the same concept, with sharp sliding effects when you click on the different links and loading on the same page. I like how both these sites doesn’t give you the feeling that you are actually loading another page when you click on the different links, as everything is already on the same page.

If you think that there’s only so much we can do with just one-page, think again. Check out the many different one-page websites that not only is a beauty to behold, but makes navigation and loading a breeze for users.

Next time, don’t be fooled if you are told ‘I only need one page for my website!’ or ‘Our company uses all the latest technologies’, because you will go bankrupt if your company charge by pages for the former, and you’ll end up with a horrendous website if there’ no good ideas from the latter.
